About Me - My Biography

October 2020.

Ian Young is a man who wears many hats but no masks (except when required due the current global COVID19 pandemic), who uses his experiences to see how he can benefit others, be that through business or in a personal capacity. He’s always happy to help.

Ian has almost 20 years working around the world in the Addiction Treatment Industry, successfully touching the lives of thousands of addicted people and their families, showing them a new way to live and encouraging them to rebuild their lives without their destructive patterns or influences once and for all, practicing what he preaches when it comes to permanent recovery.

Ian is the founder of two large rehabilitation facilities that changed the way Residential Rehab was delivered in the UK and across Europe, and has since gone on to create another Rehab in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, and to co-found The PARC ~ Phuket Addiction Recovery Clinic, in Southern Thailand, which remains one of his existing services.

However, his main focus since 2008 has been Sober Services Global, which offers bespoke packages of treatment to individuals and their families ravaged by addiction. Typically our clients are Private paying families, or afflicted individuals from the Entertainment Industry (actors and musicians), Models, or Athletes.

But it wasn’t always like that… Early 2001, aged 29, after 13 years of chronic drug addiction, alcoholism, homelessness, unemployment and living as an Outlaw, he discovered a permanent way out of his debilitating lifestyle and through hard work and a vision, built himself a world filled with the riches and royalties life has to offer – addiction free! In fact, Ian is often heard talking about his quality of life being beyond anything he could possibly have dreamed off previously.

Ian is also a qualified Trainer and has written his own Certified Training programs - 1) Sober Interventions, 2) Sober Companions & coming soon 3) Sober Practitioners, which he delivers through Sober Academy, which was the very first Training company outside of North America to be offering trainings to such a standard of Certification.

Feeling on top of the world !

Ian is a published author of the popular “It’s Not About Me! – Confessions of a Recovered Outlaw Addict, from Living Hell to LivingBig”. This is an easy to read page turner, telling Ian’s full story into addiction as a DJing and world traveller adventurer, through the difficulties and challenges he faced trying to clean himself up and most importantly the practical and spiritual lessons he’s learned through his many years helping others remain drug and alcohol free.

Ian offers Coaching and Mentoring programmes to people seeking to improve their life styles or their business’s, having helped over 50 people choose smarter paths and over-haul their lives.

Ian is an outstanding and charismatic speaker, very comfortable presenting and solving problems from the stage. It is his natural skill of engaging both large and small audiences that has taught Ian to exploit his organic talent of being a positive influence over individuals, for whom any encounter is both up lifting and thought shifting. Ian’s style is dynamic, inspiring and enthusiastic.

Ian is a proud Founding Member (by invite only) of the Association of Transformational Leaders of Europe ~ ATL-Europe, due to his impact upon the Addiction Treatment Industry (one of the qualifications for membership is to have made a positive impact on at least 6000 other people), and plays a proactive role in supporting other Transformational Leaders around Europe and helping us to change the consciousness of the planet, one person at a time.

Ian completed 4 years as a Director of YES Group World, having previously served a full 2 year term as the Leader of YES Group London – the UK’s leading personal development community. This is the longest running self-sustaining, not for profit group for people looking to improve themselves emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally, financially and in their inter personal relationships. The YES Group delivers their annual Basket Brigade event on December 23rd, creating and delivering full Xmas hampers for vulnerable families around London. Ian has MCed this event for the past 4 years.

In March 2014 Ian was honoured by the judges of the Association of Professional Coaches, Trainers and Consultants with the extraordinary prize of “Courage to Change” Award, decided uniquely by the judging panel and handed to him based upon over a decade of using his own experiences to see where he can help others.

(1) His charismatic and intelligent approach to business and projects alike brings a really exceptional edge to all those fortunate enough to work alongside him and experience his energy, humour and passion. With his background and his understanding of the psychology of the human condition, Ian makes a unique addition to the human gene pool.

(2) Ian is currently living on the beautiful tropical island of Koh Phangan in Thailand, where he is developing a new venture, the first Eden-Life Wellness Resort, promoting alcohol-free spaces for people to work, rest and play.

Ian’s personal mission is to co-create a green and harmonious world, through laughter and love, bringing a better quality of life to all who cross his path and beyond.

Bought it, read it. Amazing! Thank you for sharing. I could relate to so much of your story. Inspiring, honest and a huge amount of courage to write it.

This book is all about Ian Young's fall from grace. It's about his drug and alcohol use and his trip from having a great life to a life full of demons. It reads like a novel at first but it's so much more. It's how a person can get into the life of addiction and lose everything. It is also about his rise again to a full beautiful life without drugs or alcohol with the help of a 12 step program. He tells his story with compassion. He also points out to the reader how you can recover. I loved this book and am recommending it to my freinds and familys in recovery.
